M & C Bassets

The Basset Hound farm of southern Indiana.

We’re Myron & Christina Graber, a small USDA-inspected kennel in Montgomery that has raised happy, healthy Basset Hound puppies for the right families since 2020.

It’s mostly the ears. Then you meet the hound.

The ears swing when they walk, drag the kitchen floor, flop into the food bowl, and end up wrapped around the wrong leg. Those droopy eyes look worried even on a good day. The walk is slower than yours — they’re reading scent off the ground, not stalling.

Under all that, they’re sweet. Patient with kids, glued to whoever sits down. They’re hounds, so they follow a smell before they follow a command. Training takes patience and food. But you laugh at them every morning, and you keep laughing.

The care we give. What it looks like here.

1

What we feed them

We work with our veterinarian to make sure our puppies and our moms and dads are getting the nutrition they need. Our grown dogs are on Tuffy's Gold, and the puppies and the moms who are pregnant or nursing are on NutriSource Puppy Starter Plus.

2

Our vet

Our veterinarian helps us look after the puppies from the start. Every one of them gets a full checkup from the vet before it goes home, and you get the records.

3

Where they stay

Our moms, dads, and puppies all have a spacious area with the room they need to raise their little ones. We keep the whole space temperature controlled, so it stays just right for them no matter the weather.

4

Handling the puppies

We give the puppies lots of attention and handle them every single day. That helps them mature properly and be ready to go home.

5

Yard and runs

The moms and dads have a big yard to run and play in. When they're not out there, they've got large runs with plenty of room to move around.
